Suffolk County Council is commencing its Call for Sites consultation for the new Suffolk Minerals and Waste Plan.

The consultation will open on the 15th June 2026 and will run for six weeks until 23:59 27th July 2026. 

The County Council is preparing a new Minerals and Waste Plan in line with the Government’s reformed local plan-making system.  The Create or Update a Local Plan (CULP) guidance recommends we target as wide an audience as possible with a call for sites.   

The Call for Sites represents an early and important stage in the plan making process. It provides an opportunity for landowners, operators, industry bodies, community organisations and other stakeholders to submit land for consideration as potential minerals extraction sites, waste management facilities and their associated infrastructure. 

The Call for Sites does not determine whether a site will be allocated. All submitted sites will be subject to detailed assessment, and the overall strategy for the new Plan will be informed by technical evidence, sustainability appraisal, and feedback from later consultation stages. Submission of a site does not confirm any planning status or imply future allocation. 

The County Council requests submissions through our online survey, which is available at: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/MineralsandWaste/ A separate submission must be completed for each site, and a shape file will need to be e-mailed to mineralsandwasteplan@suffolk.gov.uk clearly referencing the corresponding site submitted through the online form.
